The race under the sea level - Death Valley Trail Marathon

Though the day was a bit gray, there was still a lot of depth in the beauty surrounding the course. It was an unforgettable experience to run in Death Valley amidst the rain and with the snow covered sand next to the trail, considering that it is said to be one of the hottest, driest places on earth. In addition, the complete course was under the sea level (see elevation profile below).

1st Lap - 1:59:16 (Pace: 09:09/ 6.5 mph)
2nd Lap - 2:22:48 (Pace: 10:56/ 5.5 mph)

Total Official Time - 4:22:16 - New PR
Average Pace: 10:02
Average Speed: 6 mph = 9.66 kmh
Overall Place: 77/169

Wow, crazy... ;) When did you start running marathons? Isn't it absolutly difficult to run in Death Valley? I'm impressed!

@ Tanja: I started training in 2008 - inspired by my girlfriend who was back then preparing for her first Ironman. I ran the New York Marathon in November of 2008 as my first marathon. Since then, I did four marathons, one 50k (31 miles), one olympic triathon and one half ironman. There is more to come this year: two marathons, two half ironmans and a full ironman in August. Schoene Gruesse nach Irvine, Bjorn

Wow - now I'm actually more impressed. You just started in 2008 and the same year you did your first marathon....crazy awesome ;) I tried to run but never got the Aha-feeling which, everybody tells me, should give me the push ... Congrats to you own 10K record! Viele Gruesse aus Irvine, Tanja
